Our Spinach Cheese calzone is a local favorite. A cheesy delight, the calzone is great alone or with a side of tomato sauce. The crust is made with organic, stone-ground whole wheat flour and is sweetened with honey. The filling is made with mozzarella and ricotta cheeses, spinach, crushed red pepper, herbs and spices. Our Spinach Cheese calzones come partially pre-baked in the store; we recommend baking them in the oven or toaster oven for 30-45 minutes at 325-350°F, until the crust is nicely browned on top. The Spinach Cheese Calzone can be prepared straight from the freezer, or after defrosting.
Our Vegan Spinach Teese Calzone is the vegan cousin to the Spinach Cheese Calzone. The starring ingredient is the Teese vegan mozzarella cheese, a non-GMO dairy-free vegan cheese alternative made by Chicago Vegan Foods. As far as vegan cheeses go, we think this one's pretty good -- it stretches and melts just like real mozzarella and gives us the gooey calzone experience we desire.
